Bill Belichick explains why Michael Floyd was right for the Patriots

  • Night net The Patriots on Thursday did what they often do — snag the scraps from a team that deems a talented player troubled.Michael Floyd, 27, was claimed by New England off waivers a day after Arizona cut the wide receiver who was arrested on DUI charges last week. IYER: Patriots find their next Brandon LloydThe fact that this isn't the first time Floyd has been connected to DUI trouble was why some were surprised by the Patriots' move. Floyd's contract also expires at the end of the season. None of that mattered to coach Bill Belichick, however, who only wants to field the best team he can for the playoffs this season.Belichick was asked to clarify the Patriots' reasoning during his media session Friday. Below is a transcript of those questions and his answers.BB: Alright, we claimed Michael Floyd yesterday and released Griff (Whalen). I think this is really similar to the Whalen situation last week, a position that we don’t have a lot of depth at. We felt that obviously we’d rather work with Floyd at this point in time. We’re aware of the situation that came up earlier in the week. We’ll let that legal situation play itself out, but really we’ll just see how it goes. He’s a player that we haven’t had before. We look forward to working with him and we’ll just see how it goes.Q: He had a similar situation in college –BB: I wouldn’t say it was similar at all.Q: I was under the impression it was a DUI he receiv[......]

IMIG: Rams, Fisher redefining embarrassmentFisher, 58, has been an Night net head coach since 1994, his first season with the Houston Oilers. He's used to criticism. Todd Gurley to fantasy football owner who threatened him: 'Pull up then'

  • Night net Don't let your fantasy football frustrations get you beat up in real life. Todd Gurley had to send a stern message to a disgruntled fantasy owner, letting him know he doesn't take too kindly to being threatened Thursday night.  After rushing for more than 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games as a rookie in 2015, the Georgia product drew comparisons to some of the all-time greats such as Eric Dickerson. His performance prompted fantasy owners to snatch him up in the first round, heading into the season. However, his production has declined significantly in 2016. Playing behind an abysmal offensive line, the 6-1, 227-pounder is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and is the league's 17th-leading rusher. His poor performance week in and week out has made him untradeable in most fantasy leagues, putting owners'  championship dreams in jeopardy as they try to find production at one of the game's most important positions. Following the Rams' 24-3 loss at a Seattle Thursday, a game in which Gurley rushed for just 38 yards on 14 carries, one such owner slid up in his mentions, talking crazy. Gurley let him know he needed to fall back.  MORE: Week 15 fantasy RB rankings Pull up then. https://t.co/EmZBhVvZk0— Todd Gurley II (@TG3II) December 16, 2016Random social media guy actually had a funny response. Been waiting on you in the end zone. Night net strikes out with 3 priority whiffs in 1 day: Just let the 49ers celebrate

  • Night net Presenting this week’s No Fun League Report. Or, three ways in Week 13 alone the Night net proves what it does best is solve problems that don’t exist. In this week’s edition … Josh Norman gets flagged five weeks late, the 49ers get punished for celebrating something they didn’t officially do and the league MVP gets told, "Cameron Jerrell Newton. You are not. Going. To. Walk. Out. Of. This. House. Dressed. Like. That. Period." MORE: Night net power rankingsIn chronological order of instances where pointlessly twisted priorities became evident in the Night net: 1. Against the Bears in snowy Chicago, the 49ers blocked a punt and scored what seemed like a go-ahead, momentum-shifting touchdown, and reacted exactly like a desperate team starving for a win would (and should).Dontae Johnson, who scored the touchdown, flopped to the ground and started making snow angels. Teammate Rashard Robinson joined him. Their teammates gathered to grab them, slap them on the pads and generally explode with long-overdue glee. You know the rest: excessive celebration penalty. This one put "excessive" in a different context, since replays showed Johnson stepped out of bounds at the four-yard line. All things considered, not actually getting to the end zone wasn’t a calamity. Neither, of course, was the celebration.IYER: Kaepernick blew last chance with 49ersThe 49ers were on a 10-game losing streak. The game was scoreless and i[......]

Will Tony Romo replace Broncos QB Trevor Siemian?

  • Night net null null The Cowboys are set at quarterback with rookie Dak Prescott leading them to nine straight wins, so now they need to find something to do with Tony Romo. Sure, he's a valuable backup to have around, but with his contract, it doesn't make sense to keep him.According to Night net Media, Romo "has eyes on the Broncos" as a team he wants to play for. They have a great defense, great playmakers on offense and it's a logical destination if Denver wants to hold off on Paxton Lynch and doesn't view Trevor Siemian as a long-term option. MORE: Best quotes from Week 11Siemian, who is still starting for Denver, was asked about these rumors on Monday, and had a reasonable response. “That’s so far out of my reach," Siemian said, via 9News. “That’s way beyond my pay grade."I wonder if John Elway watched Romo news conference and thought, “He’d make a nice starter in 2017 while also mentoring Siemian and Lynch."— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) November 15, 2016As for the rumor itself, 9News' Mike Klis said it's unlikely the team makes a move for Romo.If the Broncos don't work out for Romo, Night net夜网论坛 Media reports the veteran quarterback would also be interested in the Bears, Jets, Cardinals and Bills.[......]
